I have had an offer of a low insurance deal if I have a Thatcham immobiliser fitted.
I am an Electrician and I wired my car in the correct lucas colours and everything works as it should.
I know it is cheeky but I can buy and fit a Thatcham alarm from Feebay but I need the approval certificate done correctly for my insurance.
Will any fitter do or must they be on an approved list?
Is there anyone here who are willing to either certificate it or fit the unit?
If you fit the unit yourself, and take the car to an approved installer, they can inspect the installation, and issue a certificate if it
complies.
the last time i had one done, it cost about £30.

Thanks Ray
Out of interest, what is involved in fitting a Thatcham alarm? It might be a good idea for me to install as I'm finishing off my wiring at the
moment.
nitram can you show me what type of cat2 your looking at.
theres some crap on ebay
i might be able todo something for you
razman

I have seen some Gemini, sterling or toad immobilisers from £35-45.
As long as it is thatcham, my insurance will accept it.
I can install any immobiliser/alarm, but it is the certificate that I need for the insurance company.
Three I am looking at:

A full alarm system is pretty useless IMHO as nobody seems to take the slightest notice of them anyway now days. An immobilisor would be my choice, but with a remote control for arming & disarming - maybe even remote starting too
Any recommendations?
