Megajolt / Engine ECU question
silex - 4/4/06 at 06:50 AM

Before I start looking in close detail I was hoping one of you guys might be able to cut down my search time.

Ideally, I would like a ECU with switchable maps. These being something like:-

Economy - Good fuel efficiency, motorway cruising, etc.

Town - A big reduction in horspower, maybe 300bhp or so. Just for heavy trafic / general use.

Country - Full wack 700+bhp (playtime)

This I was thinking could be on a rotary switch which would be selectable by myself and preferably whilst driving. I know there are ECU's with this function, but does anyone have an idea which ones ?

Cheers.

Emerald will soon have switchable maps too.

All three are acheivable on the same map by fitting a throttle pedal that is continously variable between "on" and "off".

What engine u planning on using?

Current thinking is that this sort of thing is purely a gimmick for the "go faster" brigade.
A properly tuned map on a correctly setup engine will give you all of these styles of driving dependant upon the weight of your right foot

Thanks for all the replies, at least now I have a little direction.

I understand about the right foot but I am just not that self restrained, if the power is there I'm just going to use it. So if I can limit the engine to 300 for general use its better for the engine, service intervals, fuel bill, points on the licence, etc. Then I can switch to full power for the odd track day or sprint.

Danozeman, its a skyline engine.

Thanks again.
