Hi

Any die-hard forum members out there (still online) know what OPA means on the Digidash (1) red display?

Got MOT tomorrow, just finished putting her back together (again!) tonight and getting this mysterious warning?

Manual says the red display is for

MPH,REV,GAS or OIL/temp. warning

Cant find OPA in the manual anywhere.

Its displaying O.I.L correctly when no pressure.

I'll be on the phone to ETB 1st thing, but if anyone can help me from a sleepless night?

BTW - what should normal pressure be - out of interest?

Im sure the message was comming on with quite a low pressure.

No idea what pressure should be? DD Manual has an example of Max 123psi???

Can anyone help with what acceptable pressures and temps should be for oil & water on a BEC?

I've just thought I've not looked what the alarm levels are set to - D'op!

But again no idea what they should be in the 1st place

1st to admit I'm getting out my depth with all this

Any help appreciated

Just cut this off the ETB web site if it helps at all:

"Soft" Oil Pressure Alarm - The DD2 range have a built-in oil pressure monitoring system. The user can preset the oil pressure level below which the OPA Alarm activates. In addition this can be combined with RPM values. OPA is displayed to distinguish it from a mechanical (Hard) activation.

got a DD1.

Was only on tick over & choke, what should pressure be?

I've Searched through the Mr Haynes manual - if its in there I cant see for looking

Found it in manual - 85-100psi @ 5000k's

Looking like a major engine prob now so moved over to BEC section

I could cry.......

Have you not set the pressure to when the OPA activates...if you havent...wheres the pressure ,if you get my drift.

when the engine is running at speed what oil pressure are you getting then,it could be that the OPA alarm is just set to low on the digi dash for the engine when it is idling.

Don't panic, as mentioned when at low revs if the DD1 is set wrong then it will show OPA (oil pressure alarm).

On the ETB oil pressure sender there is also a Low Pressure warning connection, are you using this and if so is the light coming on?

Also if you rev the engine does the OPA go off? If it does I would suspect it's ok.

DD1 and 2 are fantastic when set up correctly but scare the doodar out of you when they arent.

I get OPA sometimes when i first fire car up after being idle for a short while, it goes out quite soon after. Ive also had this alarm when oil level was low and i was braking hard (surge). Connect lap top and adjust settings (is easier to use laptop and you get some more adjustments than just using the dash).

Just wish I'd done one thing at a time.

Fit the digidash and then get the sump moded - Ah Hindsight......

so we reckon its a case of too much information?

in my experience - yes too much information at first. It takes a while to get the DD setup correctly for your application but when it is its great.

Of course we cannot comment on your actual engine but id get the DD set up first then suspect senders before suspecting the engine is duff. Go steady while you are in this process just in case.

Dont forget when you get onto a trrack you will get new alarm experiences - again it may just be that youve only set it for road conditions and alarms may need further tweaking (eg temperatures).
