Motorcraft Distributor Cap
Stuart Walker - 20/6/06 at 10:10 PM

Hi,

I've been told that no-one makes a 90* angle distributor cap for the Motorcraft Dizzy on the 1300... Is this true?? If not, where can I find one??

Cheers,
Stu

PS. I've got a smaller diameter 90* cap for sale for the other type if anyone needs one..?

If it's for a crossflow then I believe the 90 deg angled cap for a Fiat Strada fits, and is available.

Please dont quote me on this but i also believe the one from an Austin Meastro fits.

whilst I hate to disagree, I am not aware of there being one. There is one for the Bosch that I sustpect the other folks would be referring too - why would Fiat use a Ford dizzy? but they would use a generic brand such ass a Bosch.

Are you having problem getting the leads in under a twin carb manifold with the 1300?

It can be done but is a tight sequeeze - the motorcraft dizzy is not as tall as the Bosch so fitting the Bosch + rt angled cap won't solve it.

Remove the rubber cups from the leads and it goes in; it may need a bit of liling off the manifold rib to gain a bit of space - you can get tiny cups like what I have.

Was just about to post exactly what O2GF74 said! The Motorcraft SHOULD fit under the manifold, the Bosch - no chance, it only just fits under a 1600 standard manifold.

oh, i have a bosch dizzy with side entry cap from burtonpower, and it fits like a dream under my twin sideys

Must vary with manifolds then, 'cos mine certainly doesn't

Ok cool, havn't actually tried it under the manifold but I'll do so, and make it fit!
