I have a vdo speedo and hall effect (cable pickup)

When doing the speed test it wanders b ans much as 25%

Any ideas?

Have you bolted the speedo in yet?

Sounds like the thing a cheap/old speedo would do... is it reading the correct nominal speed?

Use a shielded cable and earth the shielding. Only a very small current so you can use TV aerial coax.

If its like a Smiths gauge then it could be down to the sensor tolerance. I'm reading the bolt heads on the diff flange and the instructions (Smiths) say less than 2mm is required!!

As above maybe try to get a cleaner signal or check the earthing.
