Remote door locking / alarm systems
RazMan - 21/7/06 at 08:39 AM

Here's a question for the alarm guru's.

I am currently installing my door locks for my hybrid doors (gull wing upper section & scissor action lower section) They are electrically operated by 'door poppers' actuated by switches on the dash and a remote control system when leaving the car (no exterior handles)

Most remote central locking systems have a 'lock & 'unlock' function and I need to know if the 'lock' & 'unlock' signals can be split to 2 single action door popper solenoids - effectively giving me 2 channels . Any help will be appreciated.

Don't know about splitting alarm channels, but I have the same system on my Beetle, and bought a kit from maplin that gives you a two channel transmitter keyfob, and two single channel recievers - ideal for door poppers. Total cost was about £25 plus a few hours with the soldering iron. Hope that helps.

Aha, sounds ideal!

Have you got a part number by any chance?

Sorry for the delay, I've not been around for a few days. Couldn't find the kit one anymore, but they do a two channel ready built one now. Stock code is L27BK. £44.99, still pretty reasonable, wish it'd been around when I did mine!

Cheers

Thanks Adrian - that looks ideal for the job. I'll place an order with Maplin tomorrow.
