Got an MOT fail on wipers not parking, its worse on intermittent wipe but they don't always park when switched off normally.
Is it a motor swap ? How does parking work ? someone suggested the relay but I don't understand how it could be that,
when you turn them off its the motor (is it the motor ?) that keeps running too park position ?
Help , advice welcome. don't want too fork out for a motor if it is summat else.
Come on, locostbuilders as never let me down yet.
Thanks in advance J.
As I understand it, the parking is controlled by a switched live directly to the motor, so I would suspect the motor needs to be swapped

I'm afraid the only disco's I know about were in the sixties and had loads of flashing lights & drugs & loud music - and the only
parking was outside.
I don't suppose thats any help is it?
Not sure that wipers need to self park for MOT test? Can check in the morning

This is a list of failures, no mention of parking ?
Wipers and Washers
a. A wiper or washer control missing or inaccessible to the driver
b. a wiper does not continue to operate automatically when switched on
c. a wiper installed for the use of the driver does not operate over an area of the windscreen large enough to give the driver an adequate view of the
road (through the windscreen) to the left and right sides of the vehicle. as well as to the front.
2. A wiper blade insecure, missing, or in such a condition that it does not clear the windscreen effectively to give the driver an adequate view of
the road (through the windscreen) to the left and right sides of the vehicle, as well as to the front.
3. The windscreen washers do not provide enough liquid to clear the windscreen in conjunction with the wiper(s)
Unless you turn up with a really filthy windscreen, how does he know about 3?If he hasn't put anything about parking, sod it! Also, how much of the view to left and right is blocked? Or is it just having a dogdy wiper blade that doesn't clear at it's outer edge?
parking is a requirement for mot, classed as an obstruction to view same as stone chips or stickers. it does sound like your motors a bit dicky
It could be the relay, the wipers on my Berlingo van started playing up on intermitant, stopping and starting anywhere on the screen and not parking. I found a broken soldered joint on the PCB for the relay which, when resoldered, fixed the problems in one go.
My 1967 Mini Moke has one wiper blade and it has to be parked manually with a knob on the motor. Never an MOT issue.

Sorted in locost fashion......
Ground rivets of wiper motor too find bush missing slip ring, bent bush into position, hammered rivets back over, fitted n working.
In other words you hit it wiv a hammer! It normally works for me
Self parking wipers not an Mot requirement.
If yours is a Lucas wiper motor, we have park switches
