Transistor Ignition

I built one of these about 15 years ago, my old MK1 fiesta ran much better on it than with the standard points set up.

might be useful to someone, cheap too.

" Gives your car the feel of an expensive luxury car "

Ideal for a Locost then

This is the same as the Maplin Kit covered in previous threads. Mine blew up! lots of burnt comonents on the board. when it was working it had no perceptable effect on my Land Rover

Yes, same kit

Mine lasted over 8,000 miles (still fitted when I sold it) and the old fiesta started much better with it fitted and ran smoother (although it didn't feel like a luxury car). Makes sense to use the points as an on off switch rather than put the full low tension current through them .

The kit is only £10, a a suitable box and some spray to seal the PCB and you are still well under £20.

If it stops your points from burning out it has to be worth it ?

Much better save up for an Aldon Ignitor They use hall effect pick up and all electronics in the dizzy work well and pretty robust until you fry your coil!
