A real longshot this but you never know ....
My MBE ecu is now talking to my V6 nicely and all the senders are feeding back good data to the ecu, but my Evodash is not reading the revs accurately
from the ecu. It seems to be reading about 50% higher than it should - ie. 4000rpm on the engine and 6000 rpm on the Evodash.
Clearly there is a pulse count issue but the Evodash only gives me 3 settings (0,1,2) and setting 2 is the closest to the actual revs.
I could take a feed from the coil pack instead of the ecu but it means ripping my loom apart (again) to make the changes. Is there any other way I can
correct this?
Something in the back of my mind is making sense on this but I can't figure out what.
Are you using one and a half coil packs or coil per cylinder?
Does the MBE ecu output one and a half or three pulses per revolution? Three cylinders fire each revolution I think...
Do you have any idea what the 0,1,2 mean?
It sounds like the dash is still expecting a 4cyl engine.
Cheers
It gets more interesting now
The V6 is firing on three coils (wasted spark) and if worst comes to the worst I could always just tap into one of the coils to get a reliable pulse
directly to the Evodash. The 0,1&2 are presumeably a ratio of some kind and it almost makes me think there needs to be a '3' in there
too.
In the process of fiddling with the Evodash I discovered that the LED display and the numerical display can be programmed to give different tacho
readings and it appears that if I double the 'rev top' value (ie 13000 rpm), the led display reads about right, compared to my laptop which
is plugged into the ecu..... but then the numerical display is wildly out
I think a technical support call will have to be made on Monday

Update: bkloco came round today with a scope (flash git ) and we tested the output of the ecu. The signal was a good clean square wave as expected
but at a different frequency to the coil pack.
To save time we ran a lead from Evodash to the coil and hey presto, everything works fine now.
I will have a moan at MBE tomorrow for wasting my time
