As above .
just pulled out my sender unit from the back of the cupboard and cant find the fitting instructions, does any body know , its a smiths type piveting at the top, and by the way , do plastic tanks have baffles in them, just wondering if thats why i dont get a proper reading.

proper reading ?????? please expalin.

The reading may change a little bit if you are driving fast round corners or up/down steep hills and have no baffles. If stationary, having baffles makes no difference to the reading.

Yes i can if the baffles get in the way of the sender unit's curve.

When the tank is full ,the gauge reads three quater full, when tank is empty , the gauge reads one quater full.

I have a similar problem, when it's full it reads over full and I'm not sure what it reads near empty.

is it a guage/sender mismatch?

has the sender arm been set to correct ajustment for depth of tank ie does not fall all way before hiting bottom of tank and vice versa
