Ford speed sender

I've got a speed sender off a Ford Escort I'm planning on using but I need to know how many pulses per mile it gives. Can anyone help?

I seem to remember that my Mondeo one gives 9 pulses per wheel rev .... if that helps at all Either way you should be able to calculate it by counting the pulses per wheel circumference (measure with tape and roll the car forward) and programming your dash accordingly.

I had thought about that but I thought I would ask on the off chance somone knew. Plenty to do before I get to that stage anyway!

The speed sender does not put out a certain number of pulses per mile as such. It depends on diff ratio and rolling raduis of chosen wheel/tyre combo.

Rolling forward and counting pulses is the best way. Although i would advise some help from a friend. Counting and pushing can get a little tricky. Also, the further you push the more accurate your calibration will be. I am not suggesting pushing the full mile though!

What would be the best way to register a pulse? Would a bulb or something work?

With power connected, a multimeter is the best way as there is probably not enough power to light a filament bulb.
