electronic speedo

evenin all
what are the options regarding electronic speedos for my pinto based indy. I assume it picks up its pulse from the diff output cos i can't see a way of calculating it off the propshaft because of the final drive ratio.
the programme i saw on sky the guy was building an overpriced indy can't remember the name west something or other, it took the pulse off the drive shaft bolt heads . I'm only running drum brakes on very early drive shafts.
all I want is a cheap functional speedo thats easy to set up no all singing all dancing thing that tells me my lap times
regards
Tony

I got a VDO electric speedo and the pickup is 6 small magnets on the diff drive flange,i am going to glue the magnets on because i doubt if they will be on there long with just the magnet holding on.

The other choice i had was a magnetic pick up which would then read the 6 hex bolts on the diff flange as i've got disc set up.

I reckon your best bet would be the magnets on diff flange like mine

£24.99 from MPS http://www.thefastone.co.uk I think their web site is. Extend the wire to the front wheel and araldite a fridge magnet to the inside of the wheelrim for it to pick up from. Reads up to 183mph with odo, ride time, max and average speed. Order a catalogue from them and look near the back.

yours, Pete.
