pinto to bike
roadrunner - 16/2/07 at 02:43 PM

I'm thinking of ditching the boat anchor, for a bike engine, my problem is the gauges, i want to keep the classic look , and i know my gauges will be usless for the bike conversion.
What is the best way , and possibly cheapest way to use the right dials , and keep the same dash , i have Smiths 90mm speedo and rev counter at the mo.
Cheers Brad.

can you really hear your stereo when you're driving?

jamesbond007ltk - 16/2/07 at 03:34 PM

Was just about to ask that myself!

Considered the idea of installing one myself years ago but soon decide against it. Especially when i decided to ditch the windscreen idea.

I may be interested in some of your old pinto bits when time comes. My mate could do with another pidgeon sticker on his landy.

May be a stupid idea, but for the Rev counter I wonder if you could do something simple like 1/2 the pulses the dial saw..

You'd know what it was really showing... and could drive it just like a CEC saves buying a 3.14 diff!

i'm gonna install a radio in mine..dont mind if i canŽt hear it... all cars need a radio nowadays... iŽll be able to hear it when stopped... while driving, iŽll let the pinto do the music

Interesting...i am thinking of going from bec to cec as i am a bit past the full on experience of bec power....how easy is it to go the other way, maybe we could swap engines or cars!!!

mad dad - 16/2/07 at 06:59 PM

don't know spec of yours but mines a 919 fireblade engine registered 2004 (1000 miles approx) uprated clutch both of which are now being overhauled, tarox brakes and green stuff pads, cosworth rear end, LSD, etc etc

Mine is a 205pinto running zx9 carbs and megajolt, fr32 high lift cam, Burton chopped sump, full windscreen or deflecter ,3.62 diff , and in the very near future, Willwood 4pots and intatrim seats ,or and new rear lights.
Car was registered end2004-beginning 2005.

Would seem silly to convert 2 cars to end up with the same sort, and it would save a lot of work and cost???...its a thought?
