Any ECU gurus out there, i have an engine with a bosch ME7 3.2 ecu, unfortunately i dont have the ignition barrel or key, and am guessing this will be a problem when attempting to run the engine, is it possible to have the ecu decoded to overcome any security issues. If so who can do it? Any pointers?
What happened to good old points and a magneto...sigh!

If it is anything like my Ford ecu then I would say it probably isn't worth the trouble. The security features are a PITA and the better option is to go for an aftermarket ecu, but it is not the cheapest way.

i dont no wot ecu you have but some with the keypad can be bypassed by starting off the starter motor because it only cuts the starter solinoid so you could just use a starter button dont no if this help but might be worth a try

Thought that might be the case, spoke to emerald today, but it seems the vvt might be an issue, Which ecu have you used raz?

I went for MBE mainly because it was my local rolling road's choice. Easymap is quite easy to get to grips with. You might look at Emerald as they seem quite popular.

*edit* Just realised that you already mentioned Emerald. Maybe the vvt will be a challenge for most ECUs unless you can find someone who has already cracked it. I had to find a base map for my V6 and that probably saved a few quid.

Just had a peek at MBE's webby, and according to the spec their 941 model supports vvt, and coil on plug, which was another issue with the emerald. will give them a bell today. cheers raz.
