I have removed my steering lock and now need to make a nice job of securing the car without having the horrible sierra part in the car


What do you think of these?

I just bought something similar. Seems ok. Was having a play around with it earlier. Simple to wire in, and will count as another anti-theft device.

I've read the SVA manual, and I'm still none the wiser...

What is meant by 2 forms of immobilisation..? The manual states'in addition to the ignition switch...' but what happens if you dispense with the switch..?

Would a keyless immobiliser plus a normal switch for ignition, then a start button, pass the criteria..?

You can have an fia key as one and an ignition switch as the other or a mechanical form of security like a steering lock.
On mine I have an fia switch with toad immobiliser plus a seperate start switch.
The fia switch is one and the immobiliser is the other on mine.
My steering wheel is also removeable but this did not matter.

Mine will be an ignition switch with the immobiliser as the second. I have removed the ignition barrel and switch from the column.

Well a steering lock is only dangerous if it fails and locks while you are driving. Losing steering is arguably the worst mechanical failure that can happen, worse even than complete brake loss.

Guess it's a risk of failure vs. consequences of failure decision you have to make for yourself.

After using a secondhand colomn that could be 10 years old, /i would go with removing the lock
