myeates - 15/3/07 at 08:34 PM

Hi guys im trying to work out how to wire up the column switches just trying to work out how to wire up the relays for the switch gear

I know where the wires on the stalks go to. Got the diagrams off here a while back but no idea how to incorporate the relays in to the wiring and how many will i need for the stalk switches and what type if anyone knows. Bit lost with this

Thanks in advance look forward to your replies

Well for every thing you need 1 relais

- Brakes
- Main
- Dip
- Side
- Horn

then the flasher is also a special relais.

if you search for stalks and sierra i guess you will find a thread wich goes about the scheme's then its just easy to do.

i suggest that you power all the relais with a fused live and ground all the lights..

then when grounding the relais the light will go on

IMO you don't need a relay for side lights or brakes as they are low current items, but definitely for everything else.

Agreed, Dont use relays for these on a Jellymould, why should you need them on a Locost?

Switches never are used to switch a load.
and brakeload is 4Amps!!!

Sidelights are 20Watts that +/- 2Amps..

Sow its deffo a load wich needs to be switched with a relais.

If a switch isn't used for switching a load , what is it used for ?!!!
As soon as any current flows though the switch it IS under load.
The important factor is to make sure that the current you are switching is within the current capacity of the switch

Brakes and sidelights don't use a relay, not on my 1993 donor anyway.
