"how to" superseal weatherproof connectors
macdave69 - 7/6/07 at 03:58 PM

I was wondering if anyone out there can advise how to build up the weatherproof superseal connectors. I bought some and cannot get the pins to stay in place. I asked the retailer to demonstrate and he gave up after failing to get them to stay in either. Pictures would be good because I am totally baffled (very easily too)
Cheers

There is a proper AMP crimp tool, but at a guess you don't want to spend £180 on one do you?

Are you making sure you only crimp the end two pairs of tags? I'm pretty sure the last one is just for the rubber boot, the next one in is just for the copper wire.

Although looking at them now I'm not sure if the 3rd pair of crimps also need to fold over. I only have one spare here and I can't use it, but you could try doing just the two, put it together to see if it helps. Its just that the 3rd pair are not straight, they have a taper on the end, so I think they may be guides rather than crimps. Hope this makes sense.

Nope, spending £180 on anything makes me feel ill. I was crimping everything, so that would probably be it. I take it the last one locks into the locating collar and now makes perfect sense.
I'll go away and hide now
thanks for the help
