What starter motor is this and ...

... what goes where?

We did have a X-Flow in which needed a solenoid, I'm guessing this one doesn't. I think it's from a Sierra.

All help is appreciated, thanks

thats a pre-engaged starter. needs a different flywheel to an interia (which is what i think you previously had).

On the pre-engaged, you put the starter trigger to the solonoid (c) and the power to the other bit (a).

(although trigger could be to (b) and the "i'm starting hte engine feed could be from (c) for when you've got an auto box to make sure you don't start it when you're not in park. earth the box and put 12v to b and c, see which makes the solonoid move)

thats a sierra pre engaged starter motor

Thanks lads, that helps. I'd say that B is earth as it's got what looks like an earth strap

Battery to A and trigger to C, sorted. I'll let you know how it goes if it ever stops raining

dont earth B thats the 12 output that turns the motor from the solenoid. the earth should go to a point on the engine or a gearbox bolt.
it looks to me as though its broken off the starter and therfore is knackerd or needs repairing

A 12v from battery
B 12v from ign switch (crank position)
C should go into the body of the starter to spin the motor

haven't looked at mine in ages - defo agree about earth and +12v ..... don't recall the solonoid to starter cable but you're probably right. thinking about it the auto box bit was a separate cable that went onto the end of the thread of (C)
