Peeps,
Maybe this should be in fuel injection section, but hey....
I've just been looking at the trigger wheels site, and am now toying with the idea of coil packs (Edis 8?) to run my ignition.
My understanding from what I read elsewhere and a bit of assumption is, I can fit a trigger wheel, a pickup, and a set of coil packs which will allow
the engine to run once timing sorted. I then need an ECU (I'm going Emerald), which will then send signal to pack to advance timing.
Right, is it that simple and what should I look to pay (are trigger wheels prices competitive?). Seems a cheap way of getting modern electronics.
I know the distributor will need the top taking off as it will still need to drive oil pump.
Thanks very much
ATB

Yes; it's that simple.
trigger wheels is reasonably priced and Chris, the guy who runs it is, very au fait with Emeralds. If you drop him a line with what you want to do,
he'll sort you out with the right bits.
For me, the first thing to check with Emerald would be the mods required to give 4 ignition output triggers - you won't interface an EDIS 8 unit
with an Emerald as it triggers the coilpacks directly.

PS to save a lot of F#£$ing around with trigger wheels, I'm 99% sure the Emerald can be made to interface with your existing dizzy.
You then have the choice of using the Dizzy for spark distribution (Emerald controlling when it sparks so still electronically mapped advance) or
doing the mods for an extra wasted spark output.
