I posted a question about Bestek ignition systems a couple of days ago and no one seemed to have used any of their kit so i contacted them.
The owner is a guy called John Best and he tells me they have been is business for 18 years.
Now here is the good bit; they have just finished a prototype Pinto dizzy which contains all the electronics for 16, yes 16, preset ignition maps which you use an external switch to change. It will work with any coil and he is finlising it and working out a price soon.
Their stuff can be found on Ebay as well.

I saw your thread and I have the bestek system but Ive nothing to compare it to so couldnt really offer any advice.

But do you think its any good or given you any troubles?

was with the car when I bought it, cant say its given me a single problem.

Ive never heard bad reports ref Bestek. i cant imagine its cheap though.

I know you have a phobia against wiring but as said before, if you are going to splash out then personally id just fit megajolt and future proof your installation. Trigger wheels are very easy to get - im well happy with triggerwheels.com and that is just a mechanical bit.
If you get a megajolt from Matt Kimmins it comes with EDIS built in and all the wiring / sensors prewired. There really isnt any way you can go wrong - there is less to connect up than a std electronic ignition set up. This is what i have (bought off Zilspeed). The only grief i had was getting the laptop to talk but even that is sorted now as the latest software on autosport labs (free download) is great and very easy to use.


The BIG advantage of fitting a good system from the start is that the install will be a lot neater.

£75 for MJ and the gubbins.

Have to agree with Darren.

When MJ is cheap, simple and totally programmable what's the point of having a dizzy with only 16 maps on it.

Total cost of my MJ was £150 including the trigger wheel, loom, EDIS, Coil Pack, VR, TPS and lead adaptors but I'm sure you can do it cheaper. I would think his dizzy would be at least that.

Mine worked first time (well second after I reversed the VR sensor wires) was dead easy to do.

The stuff on ebay is everything i will need is it?

Ebay version looks like MAP (manifold air pressure) version not TPS (throttle position sensor). I am running TPS as I have twin dellortos. It is up to you which you choose depending upon your setup

If you can run MAP from a manifold, other than a laptop and cable, it seems a pretty complete package and very cheap. Trigger wheels alone cost £30 from www.triggewheels.com or ebay.
