I found my battery completely flat tonight and after several helpful posts on fault finding techniques i believe i know the problem
Here are some posts from flange nut on the subject
The Vicky Green loom uses Brown as the unswitched live and Green as the switched live. White is the ignition live.
I have a Vicky Green Loom and a Nippon Denso alternator. The problem is that the field coils of the alt are permenantly connected to the battery (thin
brown wire). I had to modify my loom to use a switched live feed.
Being an electrical fool this means very little and i don't know how to rectiy the problem. I've U2U flange nut for assistance though
any info from anyone else much appreciated.

i got a wire diagram for a toyota 4age alternator which i believe to be a denso unit, il try and get it uploaded for you.

Nick with it wired as it is did you have any problems with battery drain? That's how mine is wired and the battery flattened witihn 4 days.
did you have to modify the loom at all?

get a 12v bulb, a piece of wire,
remove the positive battery lead
connect the bulb to the positive lead and to the postive terminal on battery
if the bulb lights something is draining current.
to work out what is drawing current disconnet each component in turn.

I don't recall making any mods to the loom for the alternator wiring. Although I did wire it up incorrectly at first which caused a current
drain - IIRC I had the charge warining light wired up wrong somewhere along the line.
