Micra Alternator Bracket

Any one any idea how to remove the orginal bracket from a micra alternator. Preferably not using an angle grinder.

Plasma torch?

I've got a copy of the Haynes manual in the garage for the Micra, let me know if you need any pages whipping onto the scanner....
Sounds like you're modifiying / butchering the alternator though which probably won't be

There seems to be some sort of insert with a slot cut in it in that hold it on but it doesn't look like it would be easy to compress. I may have to resort to drilling it out.

I have a feeling it won't be in the haynes manual either.

Don't know about Micra alternators, but by the sound of what your talking about, it's the adjustable spacer, that ensures a good fit to the bracket. If correct it would be in the back hole, where the mounting bolt goes through, to release it put a socket over the insert, and just tap the alternator body towards the front, that "should" give you the clearance to get it of.
