Anyone use this type of multimeter? How would you use the DVA function and any uk suppliers?
Alex
Ahem! Wikipedia definition
DVA (Peak Reading) Voltmeters - Specialty meters for measuring average DC voltages and AC voltage spikes on ignition systems.
Thanks Raz
Any places to get one anybody? They are popular and available in the states.
Alex
If you need to read average levels then a scope will probably be a better idea. If however you just need to read peak levels then any good quality
digital meter will do the job.
What do you need to measure?
Coil outputs when running to trace a problematic and intermittent fault on an outboard motor.
Was recommended to use theis meter by a tech.

I would have thought a scope would be better for that - you can see how noisy the coil spikes are and often diagnose a problem easier. A DVA will only
really give you peak voltages which won't mean much.
You can hire them quite cheaply - a lot cheaper than buying a specialist meter for one job anyway.
Thanks mate.
