VDO rev counter delay
darren(SA) - 30/10/07 at 07:42 AM

Hi guys,

Any idea why my VDO rev counter has a slight delay?

seems fairly accurate however quickly depressing the accelerator hardly yields any movement on the tacho as it seems a bit slow to respond?

I think I have it connected correctly, signal from the -ve on the coil. They say you can connect the signal to the alternator to a 'W' terminal? how do I know if I have this? my alternator has 3 spade connectors.

The guys we bought the rev counter also gave us a diode to put inline of the signal wire, did not make much difference, only got the needle to be slightly more stable.

thanks

You say you have 3 spade terminals so assuming you are using an 80mm

VDO ETB Linky

I am using the VDO on a v8 and not noticing any problems.

yes thats the one. If you tap off do the revs drop quickly? mine seems to take its time.

I know these are adjustable for 4,6 and 8 cylinders, perhaps it is setup incorrect? the guy did tell me he set it up for me when I bought it?
