My whole plan for my car went haywire when the mechanics I have hired to help me suggested I go with a newer Nissan CA18DET rather than the Toyota 22RE I already had. Yes, it's 173 vs 118 HP, and was done because they understood the electrics well on that engine. This requires electric tacho, speedometer and all that, and I can no longer use my old mechanical Spitfire gauges. My build costs have gone through the roof!

Can I use bike clocks? They seem cheap and simple looking. If not, what's a sharp looking, cheap solution (black face)?

I don't want 12 gauges cluttering up the dash space, and I love the idea of the bright6 and warning lights, instead of gauges where possible (other than oil press, water temp, and fuel).

I have a good quality fully programable speedo on ebay at the moment if that helps and its 1/3 of the new price!

Bike clocks are fine provided you get the associated sensors, only issue is can your engine rev to 12,000 rpm ..... because thats what most bikes do.

Hey, now we're talking. Do you know if they're lithium battery powered, like the Veypor?

The rrv blade closks I have cost £10, the speedo uses an old ABS sensor as source and the rev counter works from the lost spark LT side of the coils, the rest is just light bulbs.


The only duff bit I have is the temp gauge, for some reason these wok in reverse but if its to hot it steams !!!
