Coil pack wiring?
Simon - 20/12/07 at 09:06 PM

Peeps

I've just bought a pair of coil packs V8, connectors, trigger wheel, sensor etc from trigger wheels

Does anyone have any idea how they are wired up.

I reckon the 4 big holes are for HT leads.

One I guess is signal, one for power.

I remember reading somewhere that they should (without additional input) allow the car to fire up and tick over, with a signal from ecu to advance/retard spark. The trigger wheel has a tooth missing (I know it's supposed to), so does this go at tdc on no 1? I take it the two coil packs will fire a wasted spark and fire simultaneously (waffle waffle........) see my prob!

Cheers for any help - coil packs/fi are new to me so simple answers please

Emerald here tomorrow apparently

Thanks

Simon

Here's a very good place to start:

Simon

The instructions that come with your Emerald will explain it all (or nearly all!). Their wiring diagram is very easy to understand and the instructions on setting up the trigger wheel are also clear.

The instructions are on their web site if you can't wait for them to arrive.

If they're the same coil packs I bought from trigger wheels (ford) for my v8 then centre pin is +12v the other two are switch ground from your ecu to trigger the coil. And as you say the four others are HT.

I have a photo somewhere of them installed on my engine, I'll try and find if you want a nosey.
