hi,
I have fitted a zetec alternator, I was wondering how it is wired up. I thought that the two studs on the alternatoer mark B+ and d+ should be
connected to the positive of the battery, but there does not appear to be a connection for the no charge light... Any ideas, does the zetec not
require this???
One other issue will the alternator still generate the current if it is being turned the wrong direction, ie the opposite to the way it was
designed?
Cheers
Stu
I am not certain as to the wiring.... it's been a long time.... one of my two brain cells has died. The B+ is definately for the battery. I
presume the other comes from the ign light. Don't worry, you can try it and see if it works. You won't blow it up if it doesn't.
Ref turning one way or the other. Doesn't matter, but surely all engines go the same way??? If fitted to the other side of an engine it would
still go the same way.... anyway, it doesn't matter it will charge the battery whichever way it is turning.
Cheers, I will try putting the D+ for the no charge light and see what happens. The reason the altenator is turning the wrong way is the altenator is
facing the wrong way.... Am I crazy??? could not find any other way of fitting it in.

Brilliant Stu. Just love the image. Images are what we all see in our minds.... now that's an image.... brilliant. Never to be forgotten....
Can you get a better one of the mounting brackets.;-)
The wiring to the alternator via the light should go something like this....
Battery.... fuse box.... Ignition.... bulb.... alternator.... through alternator to earth via the rec.
When a pos feed is seen at the rec.... there is +12v "ish" at the back of the alternator and +12v"ish" at the other side which is
ultimately fed from the battery. Hence the bulb goes out.... 12v _12v = 0 v across the bulb. Savvy? No neither do I after 14 cans of Stella.
