Is it worth tring to figure out how to wire in the ESCII unit that came with the Donor Sierra or is there an easier / preferred means of generating sparks?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Russell

my opinion is that the easiest way is always going to be using the original part. Cant be too hard to get the ESCII in can it?

do you have a haynes manual for it? what year and engine is it?

just read the manual it says 1.8 sohc. is it pre '87? page 13.26 covers the diagram.

doesnt look like a nightmare. is your loom missing or busted up?

The inductive discharge system is the simplest but I don't think it ws used on the 1.8. I fitted one from a pre 85 car to my 2.0 pinto and it works o.k. The ESC II system looks to have a few connections that you might not bother with if you want to simplify the installation.

The control unit was damaged on removal and the wiring is missing in parts.

So I suppose the best option is a trip to the scrappie to get a replacement ?

The engine is a 1987 1.8 SOHC

Thanks for the feedback
Russell
