I've been meaning to ask this for a while and somebodys just mentioned it in the charging battery thread.
I'm after a small female socket thats water/weather proof where there is nothing in it.. or has a suitable bung to prevent water getting in.
Its for trickle charging the tin-top which doesn't get used that often, I intend on mounting it on either the face or the underside of the
sideskirt where I suppose it would be quite exposed.
There's lots of connectors available that are weather/wayer proof when there connected together, but not many where the female socket left behind
is still safe.
I've had a look in RS's catalogue and asked in some industrial suppliers but was drawing a blank or looking in the wrong place so I thouht
i'd ask you good people
I fitted something similar to my caravan when I had it. Check out caravans accessory shops. Just a thought, do you have a tow bar with twin seven pin sockets? The accessory socket may be wired direct to the battery?
I've already got a lead from the battery down to the sideskirt with an inline fuse as the car has no door or boot locks so its a way to get power
into the battery in an Emergency.
I was just after a small socket to permenantly mount to the underside or skirt somewhere, it would only have to take about 1amp max from the
Maintanance charger I would have thought.
I know the connection isn;t right, but this idea?

Hmm not exactly sure what the optimate lead is on Ebay but i'll keep and eye out for it.
I've looked at a few lighter socket type designs but not sure how weatherproof they'd be.
I was looking for something really small like a RC car power plug but again there not waterproof when you take the malke bit out... I suppose its only
12V tho so it doesn't have to be super water tight.
what connector do kenlowe engine warmers use?
I am sure there is something in RS, just a matter of finding it.
Ok this is a US site, but I found one in a yacht chandlers in Lymington

You might well be right.. I would have thought there'd be something out there, just from a application i've just not thought of.
Most of the connections I have found have been a bit on the big side or expencive as there quite high power rated.
Maybe something like a USB plug with a rubber bung in it or an audio connector or some kind. Might have to try search the IP rating of whats
splashproof waterproof etc
