got the car running tuther day but when checking guages coolant sender is reading FAR too low.
i put a multimeter temp sensor probe under top rad hose to confirm coolant temp and compare - was about 20 degrees lower on the guage - how can i get round this? i dont want to swap guages as they are no longer available (old stewart warner electric ones).

also i bought a new - (well they are recon i think) alternator from electro diesel north east - new pulley and fan to match - when a revved engine - i noticed vibration on the pulley - only when revving tick over is fine - and the charge light wont go out - hmmmm

engine is 1.8 zetec with zetec alternator..

sorry one more question..

fuel guage - same one - same guage, just new tank - now guage reads 3/4 full with nowt in! reckon its just the float sticking - iv still to investigate the float yet..

regards

I am using a Smith temp gauge and the original Vauxhall sender unit and my gauge is 20 degrees to low as well (verified by the temp gauge on my Megasquirt). I am going back to smiths to get the correct sender for the gauge. As I doubt that both gauges being out by 20 degrees is a coincidence perhaps you too could try a Smiths sender unit?

Regarding the fuel gauge, can you no bend the arm of the sender to suit?

Fuel gauge - most probable the float arm will need some adjustificationism.

Mine never reads full - 3/4 is max it wil go as float either reaches top of tank too soon or hits an internal baffle. Its sometimes the baffles that can cause some grief.

Sorry - dont know on other queries. Nice to hear you are getting it sorted.

Had that problem with my Greengauges supplied sender . Assembled it according to thier website instructions and found gauge to be reading in reverse.
