OT - fitting a power socket to a Vectra
Humbug - 26/4/08 at 12:02 PM

My neighbour's got a 54 Vectra. He just bought a satnav, went to plug it in and found there is no cigarette lighter... not even a socket! Vauxhall main stealer told him that "manufacturers are not allowed to fit them now" (WTF???) and wants something like £50 for a socket plus bits and pieces plus labour and VAT adding up to about £150.

There is a blank in the console for a socket, but appears to be no wires. Also, I had a look in the manual and found the fuse box diagram and then checked the fuise box and there is a circuit with a fuse.

So... questions for any Vauxhall specialists:

1. Where to get the socket itself?

2. How difficult is it to get behind the console etc. to get at the wiring?

Any information/instructions gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Quote - Vauxhall main stealer told him that "manufacturers are not allowed to fit them now" (WTF???)

So where are you supposed to plug your satnav/phone charger/radar detector ?

my 52 plate vectra c had a lighter socket and my 57 has a power socket which was optional, lighter sockets were part of the smokers pack at £50

Thanks chaps - I looked at the Vectra forum and got a couple of hints.

I would suggest that the wiring is already installed behind the panel so pop down to your local scrappy and get a socket.
