Very bright dashboard lights
supercat - 14/5/08 at 03:51 PM

Hi Chaps,

Can anyone recommend any bright dash (warning) lights. I have a couple of standard bulb lights at the moment but they are pretty weak when it's sunny. Either dashboard mounted or a pod that sits on top would be good.....

Cheers,
James

do you drive at night?

without some dimming resistor they can be overpowering or even blinding in the dark

Superbright LED with a resistor. Jobs a good'un. Might want to put a dimmer on it so you don't blind yourself when it's dark..

If you have standard dash bulbs with the ba9 cap you can get halogen relacements that are much brighter - same wattage

The LED panel lights can look like laser beams at night so it is a good idea to have a dual brightness setting to avoid burning out your retinas at night.

With regard to ultrabright LED night brightness; rig a relay to your sidelights and connect the ultrabright LEDs through it to a standard resistor on the (lights) off side and higher resistor to the (lights) on side (resistor to earth of course). Thus switch on side lights; LEDs dim!!
