Evening all

Got home to find my new steering wheel and boss have been delivered.

Rush into the garage to trial fit it so I can test the horn wiring and I'm slightly stumped as the instructions are in German.

I've connected the two horn wires from the loom to the two browns off the metal slip ring connector

In the boss are two wires that run from the metal slip ring

On the back of the horn push is a postive and an earth.However also in the pack is a small yellow and green fly lead (Earth?)

So with only two wires from the boss and two on the horn push does one just go to earth on horn push and 1 postive? if so what is the small fly lead for? There is a metal ring that sits behind the wheel with a spade connector on it so is the boss earthed by contact with the column and therefore the chassis?

Or quite likely have I misunderstood that I should of connected the two browns to the two wires on the loom?

It seems so simple but has left me scratching my head.

sorry but your coloured wires mean nothing to me.

there will be a switch, noramlly open, closed when you press the horn that completes the one of circuit below

12 V ------oo----------H-------- 0V

or
12--------H-----oo------------ 0V

if your horn is wired to 12 V on one end - unlikley since a lot of horns are earther through the body, it would be lower circuit.

so top circuit - horn is earthed to chassis, wire goes to one siode of horn switch, other horn switch goes to 12 V, via fuse if you want.

pressing the horn completes the circuit.

the slip ring is a moving contact which avoid having a wiring twisting about as you turn the wheel.

what you should do is get a voltmeter + maplins sell DVM for a fiver, find out how whcih 2 wires on the horn complete circtui hen you press it and then find out how horn is wired.

then use either of the 2 circuits - if yoiu are stuck, post with your connections and we'll suggest what to do.

In my car the horn is wired via a relay as the horn switch will not last that long.
Rela coil is at 12v, other end of coil grounded by horn switch.
12v from relay contacts is fed to horn, other end of horn is grounded.
