Digi Speedo Display??
coozer - 29/5/08 at 10:02 PM

Just done around 400 miles in our new lease pool car, a Honda Civic. Very fast for a diesel!

Anyway, the speedo is a nice blue digi thing that I thought would look great buried in my MNR dash.

How easy is it to strip one out from a scrappy car and use it in our 7's?

OR, can you get something similar from Maplins for example??

Very pretty. Not easy to replicate. Probably a lot of work to strip one out and keep it working. even if it doesn't require the ECU to do some of the work.

Closest to do easily and, relatively, cheaply would be be something like one of the round acewells

in theory it could be done, in practise not so easy.

stripping out the module is a piece of cake.

I don't know if the dislpays are on one pcb or separate, but assuming the latter, you would then need to figure out the connections for the mph-o-meter.

the speedo may be stand alone in that all it needs is pulses or it may need a micro to control it. you may be able to just cut out the display part and have a micro to write to it.

Closest I could find so far is something like this:
(nowhere near as sexy)

I've got an Acewell on ATM. Just think it looks a bit 'cheap' was thinking of a bespoke thing and I like the way the Honda dash has depth in the dash. Our brand new 08 model looks different to the that picture Ian, the speedo bit looks like it will simply unbolt as it only has economy lights on the right and parking sensor lights on the left, would make good shift lights

Hi lads, i bought one from germany i think it was about £200 all in and was remarably easy to set up.

Here is a link of one fitted behind the wing mirror glass! I strongly recomend this. They ship to the uk too.
