Hi all,
should the cooling fan be wired into the constant live or the switched live circuit?
Cheers Chris
leave it permanant live through a relay of course, helps them cool down after a run
I've got mine permanent live but not relayed, is this necessarily a bad thing?
Not on't road yet mind.
mine is permanent live, no temp switch, just runs all the time. you only need a relay if your temp sensor is wimpy.

as the motor takes a fair bit of current and thermoswitches are not bullet proof might as well put a relay in the circuit, costs nowt anyway and could save your engine
...and makes it easier to wire an 'override' switch into the sysetm if so desired too.

have a look http://nw.rhocar.org.uk/fan%20wiring.htm
The above link suggests it only runs with ignition on. Means you cant walk away from your car when it's hot and the fan should be on. But
i'd be very worried if my car stalled at traffic lights anyway. Plus if the fan was drawing too much current that you couldn't start the
car! Potentially very dangerous.
So i'm with Conrod with this one, but just make sure your car is up to starting when the fan is on!
