MS ignition supply
omega0684 - 19/6/08 at 09:32 PM

evening all,

(background: im using ms1v3 with ford edis on pinto engine with r1 throttle bodies)

i have connected my 12v supply to my megasquirt as shown in the following diagram, taken from Extraefi.co.uk

linky

as it displays, i have connected the fuel pump and injectors through the through the fuel pump relay.

when i turn the key to position 2 and supply everything with 12v's the fuel pump comes on but then turns off a couple of seconds later, then it comes back on a couple of seconds after that and so on and so on. is this supposed to happen?

surely when you put 12v across the fuel pump relay it should pull the switch in connecting it and therefore supplying the other components with a perminent 12v's

the only other thing that i can think of is that my wiring is wrong but i have checked it twice with the check list on the extra efi website and according to that ive done the wiring correctly

please help

cheers Alex

I've not seen it done like that before - on mine the fuel pump has it's own relay , then another ignition switched relay supplies the megasquirt/injectors/sensors etc .

I did have a similar problem of the fuel relay switching on/off/on - it was corrupted firmware caused by corrupted software

Make sure the version of megatune you have on the PC matches the firmware, as above corrupted firmware or incompatible tuning software causes this.

If you don't mind me saying so your gonna have to do a hell of a lot more reading/research if you don't know where to find out what you've got already.
Megasquirt will not work out of the box your gonna have to tell it whats what with a laptop and a serial connection lead.
Lot's of information etc and a good few hours on the toilet reading gan be foundhere

The pulsing fuel pump thing is Megasquirt's way of saying you've screwed something up in the configuration - usually set the same output to do two different things.

If I remember correctly, if you open up the mini terminal, under communications menu, and then power up the MS (ie switch on ignition) you should see an error message that will help identify which setting it doesn't like.
