My fuel sender seems to be intermittent. It's side mounted in the tank. Anyone know what this is off ? It's marked TFS 9915/000P. Where can
I get replacement ?
Fuel sender
Seeing as it looks like it's made from an old tax disc holder and a coathanger I reckon it's off a Locost.
that box and float look like what is fitted to series land rovers but it is not from that vehicles = not sure if they are lucas? but certain would be
british car from 60/70s?
I have repaired one of these in the past - corrosion - like wot you see on the metal case - occurs inside and it prevents operation.
You will find two or three small tabs holding the cover - undo them, remove cover but beware of the spring on the arm.
chances are there is corrsion on the brass piece in whcih the arm pivots - clean that up.
Also look at the wire coil - you will see signs of wear - if you are unlucky, the wire will have been worn through in whcih case you could try unding
one turn and soldering on the reverse side keeping the wire taut. The reading will be ever so slightly out but not so much that it will affect
you.
Clean up all the other moving metal parts, a dab of copper grease and reassemble then report back.
(all these are is a sliding contact over some wire coils so dead easy to fix)
if you're stuck,
then try this:
I think it is the same - the 3-D manipulation in my brain seems to think so!
you will need to bend the arm - in fact you can cut the arm to length and rejoin with bits of wire and plumbers solder (done that).
Could it be from a MK2 Escort??
They have side mounted fuel sender, but never took one out so can't say if it looks like that.
Thank you people. Got one off e-Bay so we'll see Seems to be from a Mini.

Tank in my car was in one side of the boot (upright) and the spare was in the other side.
