I'm currently using the Sierra pair of horns.

I wired it up using the threaded screw as the positive (its marked with a cross) and the blade connector as the negative. It works fine.

But! I hate the way that I have to use a non-conductive mount to hold them as the threaded positive connector is the only mount.

I want to know if I can just swop the pos' and neg'? Don't want to risk destroying the horn by just reversing it.

Anyone been braver than me? Or know if it works with the screw as the earth and the blade as the positive?

I think you will find that the Sierra horn is a one wire unit, so the lead goes to the spade connecter, and the horn is solid mounted to the chassis, which is the earth. The horn button suplies live current (12v pos) to the horn, unlike some that use the button as an earth. HTH Ray

Alot of horns sound terrible if there original brackets aren't used.

I've tried bolting them direct to the chassis or putting them on a bracket with something else for convienience or to save drilling yet another hole.
Alot of brackets look like lots of layers of steel strip layed ontop of eachother, I think it must vibrate and resonate on its mount, so much better to use the original.

Perhaps I worded my question wrongly!

I just wanted to know if the Sierra horn will work with the screw thread being the earth (it's marked with a '+' so I assumed it was positived when I wired the car) and the blade connector as the positive.

By the sound of it the '+' is misleading and it is the earth.... hmmmm. Oh well, will give it a go and see if it melts.
