My donor sierra steering wheel doesn't have the slip rings or brushes for the horn so my dilema is should i go scavange for them, or just mount a
dash switch? I'll be changing the wheel once through SVA for something more aesthetically pleasing and wondered how compatible the steering
wheel mounted horns are, or should i avoid them completely and go with dash mount?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

Steering whell for me, imagine searching the dash for the horn, the moment will be lost
In my car is in the dash, race wheels dont have place for horn.
cheers
I recommend you fit it to the front of the car, then when it toots you will be alerted to the fact that you have just run someone over and can apologise
Use a proper dash mounted big horn button -- horns are an heavy inductive load so you need either to use a heavy duyty switch or wire in a relay.
Most of the vintage & classic parts shops sell something suitable.

Dash mounted for me- I've only used the horn once and that was because someone had parked their car so it completely obstructed the side road to the garages where I keep my car and I needed them to come out and move it so I could turn out of the side road.... As my advanced driving instructor said "drive with the wheel not with the horn".....
Neither wheel or dash - mine's behind the wheel on the steering column!
I bought a 'push in any direction to make a momentary connection' stalk switch (from SVC I think) that I put in place of the old Sierra
light & wiper switches.
mine is on the steering column, i have used a fiesta mk2 stalk which is almost identical to sierra except for it has a horn push button. sierra plug
fits too, just added a spare terminal to the horn part.
