Gents

I have one of these items (no idea what it came from or part number, I'm afraid).

There's three electrical connections on the back:

One marked "+" (Big wire)
One marked "-" (nothing on it at present)
One marked "L" (very thin wire)

Does the "+" go to the battery, the "L" to the light, and what about the "-"

Any help much appreesh!

Thanks and a Happy New Year

Does this help?

Apologies to the original owner only I can't remember where I got it from.

Cheers,

Joel,

Earth was my thought, but like you said, does it earth through casing. If the original mounting wa plastic, it's possible.

Will try as close to Colin's diagram as poss:

+ to battery
L to light etc
- to earth

If it's wrong, I'll have to get another alternator

Thanks and ATB

simon, the alt does earth through body 2 small terms are ind--- to ign light tother goes to ign supply

Conrod,

The "-" is a threaded insert into the body - on a slightly smaller scale than the "+". The "L" on the other hand of a spade connector in a recessed plastic block.

Anyway, I wired the "+" to the starter, the "-" to a chassis earth, and the "L" to the ign warning light.

Turned on ign, and a warning light appeared. Started engine, and light went out. Car hasn't caught light, and no wires got hot, so reckon we're sorted, unless battery drrains through the "-" tonight

Thanks v. much for all you help everyone!
