Plastic Tank - Fuel sender position
Dick Axtell - 14/9/08 at 03:16 PM

This query is only enginerelated because it concerns the fuel tank.

A plastic tank, from PTM himself, is the subject, and in particular, where to position the fuel sender. Where did other plastic tank users put it?
From my examination, it seems that the sender should be placed about midway along the width of the tank top. Is that correct?

Are there any internal baffles, which have to be avoided? I really don't want to cut into the tank without some idea of the internal construction.

Hi mate hope i can be of help , i have plastic tank to, mk i think i cut down a wire coat hanger to find the baffel position .mark the wire with tape at the neck of the tank pull out wire mark off on the outside the position of the baffel ,with the new feul sender unit came instructions with a tank size chart i followed these set up the sender and set cut my hole with a hole saw and set the float away from the baffel and checked the float moved freely i recomend that you put bonding leads to this tank small braded wire under the jue clips and some on your fuel line this will stop any static build up in your plastic tank .Vin
