Young People - Insurance Prices Please

No offence to the 'older' people on here though any opinions appreciated

Whats insurance been like for people in their late teens/early 20's? Engine and rough spec would be good to get a better idea...

Would I have any hope for example of insuring a K-Series 1.4/1.6 or Toyota 4A-GE Locost of some sort or would I be much cheaper going for a sooty 1600 x-flow? Even worse do I stand any chance of a reasonable quote ? I'm 20 in May so say 21+ish by the time I get the car on the road.

Cheers,
Mark

Im 20. I had a quote for a 21 year old with a 3.2 jag engined locost which came to £700 which i was quite pleased with (im used to expencive insurance from my daily runaround ). Might be a bit more expencive when i've built it and fitted a 4.0 supercharged engine, but worth the money.

2.0l MK Indy £500 insured when I was 21.

Limited milage to 5000 miles.

They only asked me the capacity, not what kind of engine it is.

I'll be one of them then. Best advice IMHO is to start your own insurance as soon as possible. You may need a small engined car to get you going though. It's just the way it is. I started with an 1100 mk1 escort and worked my way up to a 2.5v6 omega now. I'm hoping that the finished kit will be quite reasonable when the time comes. Some of the young lads in this area pay more than 1500 pounds for subarus and evo's etc. Depends on how grippy/sensible/devoted to having a particular car you are as to how much you'll pay.
Good luck.
