Another ebay question, buyer in Malta
mr henderson - 6/12/08 at 11:26 AM

I am currently offering a mondeo engine and gearbox on Ebay, and have had what sounds like a very serious enquiry ffrom a chap in Malta who wants to fit it to his 1.4 Fiesta.

Thing is, I suppose the only way he can pay me would be by PayPal, and if it didn't arrive (he's arranging the shipping) or if it did and he claimed there was something wrong with it, presumably PayPal would give him his money back, and I would be out of pocket?

Previous stuff I have sold has been cash on collection, and no problems have resulted.

Any advice?

John

Well, if he thinks that there might be some trouble with the engine, then he should fly up to the UK to check it out.

Since he is also arranging his own shipping then, if the engine doesn't arrive, then it has got nothing to do with you. He should be sensible enough to insure it.

Make these things clear with him, the maltese are known to be worse than the sicilian mafia lol

get him to pay you by bank transfer (IBAN or Telegraphic transfer)

that way paypl won;t be involoved and cant steal the money back of you if he complains
