2 days ago i bought my little swift gti engine. had been stood for over 2 years due to head gasket failing. so wasnt in the best of condations but as
its so light and has good potential i thought why not.
1.3 gti 1990 G13b engine with 101 bhp before mods.
number 2 or 3 isnt in the best shape... but working with it
over night storage in my bathroom
sent head off for skimming today... 45 mins later and £15 down its skimmed win win ... only 8thou was taken off he said.
now to clean that block
quick coat of high temp paint.
just awaiting my parts supplier to deliver my head set and new bolts so that i cab get putting things back together.
i then plan on some fancy looking cam pullies and a hks timing belt if i can find one.
have found a megasquirt ecu at £150
still to find a sj413 gearbox but i wanted to be a picture whore so thought i would share
I've always liked the look of these!
Just for interest, could you weigh it at somepoint?
i will do yes, i will try do it with and with out the gear box.
Oooh nice! what car are you putting it in?
Im currently restoring/ fully rebuilding an Austin mini. One of the fun parts of the build is an engine swap. Im planning on fitting a CG13DE from a
nissan micra as there is a plentiful supply, but one of these swift GTI engines would be nice if there was more available
Keep us updated on this. I have one sitting in my garage right now. I am just waiting for the old xflow to die. What fuel system are you going to use? I plan on bike carbs with megajolt lite and Ford EDIS. Russ
currently using my bath room as a work shop to rebuild this engine but currently reseating the valvues etc..
pastel blue rocker
rusty valvue
getting their
will get some more up soon
head bolts are the wrong bloody ones
but just idea of how the block will look
You might want to have a think about where everything is going to end up. That water pipe sits pretty close to the bulkhead, its probably going to
have to be cut down and modified so there is no point putting paint on it.
Also do you know how low that sump goes in the car? How high are you going to mount the engine? will you get decent ground clearance or will you have
to cut your bonnet/sump?
Just saying because i've been there before, best of luck,
-Josh
no thank you for that, ill start hunting for a different sump, and look at modding that pipe. im building the car in a different place to the engine
so wouldnt have know that till i come to fit it all.
what did you do sump wise? have engine higher or have you modded the sump?
I run standard body work so its REALLY tight up there where the cam cover is, so I made my own sump, I had to cut the pickup pipe as well and all that
jazz.
The swift gti conversion is not a straight forward one but makes sense.
When the Gti motor is in the frame, about what angle is the cam cover sitting at? Russ

Only just fits under the nose cone !!
but sits fairly square
Had a hdd fail so lost a lot of photos
Oh man you don't know how much those pic's helped. Now I can see how the EFI is going to clear my small engine compartment. Are you going to modify the sump to make it level?? Thanks, Russ
jonno, do you have standard sump or modified one on yours?
small engine update. my sump has been sent to a friend to modifiy and add an oil return for future plans of turbo. and i have just won a bargin of a
gear box (£37) for a jimny one. should fit as they mate to the g13b engines anyway
collect box sunday/monday, clean up tuesday/wed and then mate them together. move to my unit where the car is being build for next weekend and should
then be able to get engine and box weights for alistairolsen.
then look at getting started on mounting into the chassis
not making progress as quick as i would like to but few up dates for today. gear box was picked up. and dont some more dressing
