I have not found any list quoting casting numbers on a type 9 casing that relate to gear ratios.
I have seen an article that quotes tooth count to ratio.
You take the top cover off and count teeth, the chart then tells you what ratios you have.
Retro ford mag back issue I thing, found a digital copy on the web.

Like most of us you probably have a 1st gear that is only suitable for climbing up mountains !

I nearly always pull away in 2nd.

If you remove the lid and count the teeth on the input shaft ,this will tell you the ratio. 19 tooth and a long input shaft 2.8

ratio. 18 tooth short input is 1.6/1.8/2.0 / 18 tooth long input is diesel type 9. I cant remember if the 2.3 box has a long

or short input but will be 18 tooth same ratios as 1.3-2.0 . try the link below

I think the std. box ratios are 3.65, 1.97,1.36,1, 0.82
V6 box 3.36, 1.81, 1.26, 1, 0.882.

2.3 V6 had standard ratios with a diesel input shaft, Mr Ford is clever like that.

Just pray you don't have a diesel box, they have horrid ratios.
