Mini wiper electrics
MB - 11/1/03 at 09:40 PM

I've just got hold of a new mini wiper motor and it has 5 wires coming out of it. Does anyone one know what they are for or have a wiring diagram?

Thanks

If you have a look on the RHOC website under builders tips, there's an article on the mini wiper motor. Not sure if it'll help?!

Regards, Ian.

How much did you pay for the new wiper motor ? and where from ?

cheers

use a multi meter to identify what circuit each wire runs. They should be:
1 - common/earth might be black or brown
2 - switched live feed (low speed)
3 - switched live feed (intermede speed)
4 - switched live feed (high speed)
4 - live feed for parking

or find out which car its from & follow the wiring diagram.

Enjoy.

Bob,

I got the motor from Sommerford Mini, who were very helpful. See www.somerford-mini.co.uk

The motor costed about £45

Ian,

Just looked at that website you suggested:

http://www.rhocar.org.uk/buildtipz/001.shtml

That was exactly the information I needed!

Thanks

Bob
Mine cost about £45 from a Mini specialist about 5min drive from MK. When you get one make sure it includes the rack and spindles and you'll also have to decide which side you want it to park on.

If I order a new motor do I get to spec what size (number of teeth) drive wheel is fitted? And if so any idea which combination of drive/wheel box works best? Is there any advantage to which side they park?

One of my build guru's tells me the wheel boxes should be the late ones with 110 degree sweep.

wondering why, in a locost scenario, peeps are buying mini bits? There must be a load in breakers?

Been looking in the breakers, not found a good one yet.And in the south if you do find one they want 30 quid for the lot,so £45 seems a good deal for new.
