Nippon Denso alternator connections
Steve Lovelock - 21/4/08 at 04:28 PM

Hello,

I have a Nippon Denso alternator but can't work out the connections to it from my wiring loom. I am using a Vicki Green loom from Robin Hood and it has three wires to the alternator. One is a very heavy duty brown wire which I have attached as in the picture. The other two are brown and brown / yellow. Any idea on how I can connect them?

Regards
Steve

Steve, if it doesn't U2U me - I wired one of these up and have the details somewhere

Well I followed the link to Robin Hood and realised that I shouldn't have had a permanent live and that I needed to power the lead from the dashboard lamp. Sorted those and then ran the engine and it worked perfectly, thanks.

looks like you had the same problem has me Steve, cost me a new regulator

cant understand why one wires perminant live though?, looks like another VGreen trait !!!!

helpful except I can't view the LH forum photos.

B+ is main charge out.

what is A,B and C for?

Steve Lovelock - 23/4/08 at 10:24 AM

Here are the pictures.

I used the b & c terminals, not sure what way round but it would only work one way.

Mitch, not really sure if the charging part is working yet as I haven't tested that. The ignition light goes out at the charging circuit is showing 14 Volts when the engine is running and also not running. As there was no difference I was a little curious but I could only test it at tick over so I will look into it further later on. Rescued attachment Denso2.gif

Rover Mazda and Honda used that model in the late 1990's early 2000's

One of the small terminnals ISTR the centre but not 100% sure is a square wave duty cycle signal to the ecu it is not required for everything to work.

The other small terminnals are warning lamp and battery voltage sensing.
