Gauge dimensions

Chaps

Stoopid question, but am planning my dash layout, so need to be reasonably accurate.

Would like to know how gauges are measured: eg 80mm gauge does the 80 refer to the face diameter or the outer bezel diameter.

Told you it was stoopid.

Thanks for your help.

I would guess it refers to the size of the mounting hole, just to throw another possible spanner in the works.

dunno though. electrical components and things are measured like that but dash dials I donut know.

Think you're right. Just had a look at the FAQ pages of greegauges site. Therefore reckon bezel are + 5mm approx.

Will owrk of that I think

Just an extra. Greenguages do a 86mm size which is good if you fined the 80mm too small but dont have room for 100mm.

Jason,

Once car is built, I'll be there - aside of working in London and not getting home till 7pm, then going to work elsewhere for a couple of eves a week and Sat morning. And having a couple of sprogs, and a wife that always wants things doing, any spare time I get, goes on the car. So once car built, I should have time to socialise

So, (if all goes according to plan) see you around Easter

Sizes

Just to add my tuppence worth.
The gauges I sell (Didgital and Analogue) actual hole in dash sizes are...

2 1/16 inch - 52 mm
2 5/8 inch - 66 mm
3 3/8 inch - 85 mm
4 3/8 inch - 110 mm

These are the standard sizes world wide.
