Sleepless nights

MK Indy - Fireblade
I just don't get it. I am nearly ready for the re-test but cannot calibrate the speedo. I have tried x9 magnets with ABS sensor but the speedo reading looks wrong. Have tried a Healtec but cannot get it to work. Can some out there please, please, please give me an idiots guide (I mean basically simple) plain wiring diagram of how they have wired up thier speedo to a healer and how the adjustments were made. Or alternatives to make it work to get me through the re-test, time is rapidly running out for me. Barry

Barry,

I don't know the Healer system but do you mean what you've written about using a ABS sensor and magnets? I may well be way off here but aren't the vast majority of ABS sensors inductive? That is they read whether there is ferrous metal in front of their face of not. Magnets are made from ferrous metals so I guess the principle is met but wondering if the field buggers up the sensor - i.e. your problem isn't the healer it's the signal it's getting in the first place?...

I tried magnets and reed switch on the prop first (too much vibration - magnets fell off on the way to first SVA ), then an inductive sensor (EMP34-1 from Europa Spares or likewise) trying to read the bolts holding the prop to the diff (didn't work well enough), then a new sensor on the diff output with some lumps of metal bonding to the drive shaft carrier (one came off and RIP the third sensor) and now I have sensor 4 on a made up bracket in the front hub reading the back of the studs (with some heat shielding - touch wood all seems to be well)...

I think most on here like me have had 'fun' and 'games' with speed measurement so don't give up!

Hopefully a healer expert will be on to help from that angle.

Cheers, Neil.

Are you using the fireblade speedo or aftermarket dials?

I used the propshaft bolts instead of magnets with my Green Gauges supplied sensor(Can't remember which type) It has been fine for 4 years now . Calibrated just the once following the supplied instructions for the speedo and passed SVA first time

Using the ABS sensor might be half the problem as it may well be giving out a different signal to that which the speedo is expecting... You really also need to find out the trigger spacing on the stock trigger wheel. Some speedos are very choosy about how many triggers they get, my AST speedo for example wanted about 30 per wheel revolution....
