URGENT electrical help needed Tiger Cat

I have not run my car for two weeks and have come to start it and the only thing that works is the headlights and horn. Everything else is dead. The battery is fully charged so it is not that. I have checked all fuses and all OK. Even turning the ignition key does nothing

I have an MOT booked for Friday

Any ideas??

Does it have a master fuse or a fusable link anywhere? WHat about a master cut-out? They have been known to get cruddy inside.

I used to have a CAT

Try

Blown fuse (under dash passengers side,

Stuck ign relay ( next to fuse box )

Faulty Ign switch

If the battery is fully charged and not fuct, check everything is earthed.

Continuity test it, don't do it visually.

I'd try another battery first, lights and horn take a lot less current than a starter.

Sounds like you just have items that may well be permanent live - no idea on the Tiger loom soecifically sorry. I'd be looking at the back of the ignition switch (or the switch itself) to see if you are getting a switched feed output to the rest of the loom

Did you install the electrics? Has it got an isolator switch, have you tried to start it with the isolator switch to off as some pepole have put small fuses across the terminals that intentionally blow if somebody tries to start it without the key but is designed to allow the hazards to work without the master key. Not sure why the horn and lights work though.

I'm still thinking !!!

I have just managed to get it to work when I turned the ignition switch, then put the hazard light switch on and it all went off again. Is it likely to be something to do with the relays. I have 2 relays by my fuse box. What do these do?

Dont want to ask the obvious but you have checked for decent earth's off both chassis and engine? Is there a switch somewhere between the ign switch and starter solenoid

relays prevent switches from getting burnt out as the switch sort of triggers bigger contacts in the relay which supply the device/item, that's how I think of them anyway!

Pull out the relays, one maybe flasher relay and the other maybe for a horn. Ignition should work without either.

Cheers

All sorted now. It was a dodgy connection on the starter motor.

Many thanks for your help guys
